Pesmel Main Contributor at Delhi Conference on Modern Logistics for Indian Metals & Minerals
Close to 250 delegates representing the Indian Metals and Minerals sectors, both ministries and major corporations, participated at a Delhi Conference on Modern Logistics on February 5, 2019. In a full-day event at the Shangri-la Hotel, the opening speeches were given by high members of the Ministries of Steel and Commerce & Industry. In the inaugural session, the audience was also addressed by prominent industry representatives Mr. Naveen Jindal (Chairman of JSPL), Mr. Ashish Gupta (MD of TMILL), Mr. Vinay Shroff (EVP of JSW Steel), and Mr. Chankaya Chaudhary (VP of TATA Steel). Mr. Tony Leikas, CEO of Pesmel Ltd., delivered a speech on logistics and material handling prospects in India by 2030.
The Inaugural Session was followed by a session specializing in logistics and shipping where Pesmel presentations covered following topical themes:
- Optimizing mill logistics and different technologies (Mr. Ilkka Hiirsalmi, CMO)
- Industry 4.0 in logistics (Mr. Eero Anttila, Product Group Manager)
- Packing requirements and different technologies (Mr. Jagannathan Rajagopalan, MD, Pesmel India)
- Mill opportunities in logistics delivery pipeline development (Mr. Tony Leikas, CEO)
Pesmel has a long history of developing various aspects of industry logistics and material handling together with the Indian metal industry. The Conference proved the perfect occasion to set joint targets for future developments in this important industry sector, looking forward to 2030 and beyond.
